The Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History, which I visited and reviewed a few years ago, will be open on Saturday and is well worth a visit. Forward notice courtesy of Event: St Andrews, which is collated on a voluntary basis by [livejournal.com profile] flybynightpress (and which has an RSS feed).

It is a magic place. I like the Armoured Mole.

Bell-Pettigrew was a great collector of my great-grand-uncle's musical instruments (violins, violas, string quartet's worth of instruments), too. The Cit ran an article on this when I was a bejantine, to commemorate Uncle James's 90th anniversary, titled "He was the 'Scottish Stradivarius'". Unfortunately, Bell-Pettigrew's musical collection was dispersed after his death.
