According to the BBC, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is doing very well, so not everyone has my half-hearted response to it. Although I found it wasn't all I'd hoped for, I do look forward to seeing the other books filmed on the back of commercial success.

I'm probably looking forward to it rather more than HP. HP has just reached here, so I might go sometime this week.

But then, the whole religious aspect passed me by completely as a child, I loved the artwork and thought that Jadis was womderful.

HP was very good fun when Jan and I went to see it.

Recommended.

I just can't get into the Potter fantasy universe: I found the books unreadable, and the films palled.

I shall definitely go to see TLTW&TW, to cheer for the Witch. (The Christian subtext did not bypass me, though I don't think I picked up on it till the later books - The Last Battle angered me. However, I believe in subversion as far as possible.) Jadis is indeed spectacular, though I thought Pauline Baynes drew her better in The Magician's Nephew. I always found the drawing of her being mauled to death by Aslan distressing, and wanted to rescue her. The kids I just found twee and annoying.
I still relish the evil notion of Mr Tumnus revealing himself to be a satyr, not a faun...
